GENERAL | GO-KARTS | MINI SPRINTS | QUADS | SATURDAY RULES

All rules are subject to change to keep in line with National and other local tracks rules. Cars, parts, components, and/or equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection at any time or any number of times unobserved or undetected. Refer to Wild West Speedway general rules for racing procedures and rules of conduct.

Unless these specs say you can do something, you cannot. If you have questions call the track or email us.

1a. Driving gear: Helmet with eye protection, Neck support, Long sleeves and full length pants, Shoes and Gloves are required.

2. Must have a working kill switch within easy reach of driver, cage karts must have an additional switch mounted in the right rear area on roll cage with the "ON" position pointing forward or up.

2. All Junior class karts must have a minimum four point steel roll cage bolted or welded to the frame. Cage must have a minimum 3" head clearance.

1. Numbers must be prominately displayed in a contrasting color on front, rear and both sides of kart.

1. All weights added to kart must be bolted to point of attachment with adequate fasteners, painted white and have their car number on them.

4. Engine: Single cylinder 126cc OHV/OHC, 148cc "L" head type or restricted stock Animal or Animal Clone engine(must run a .220" Purple Horstman restrictor plate on Animal).

4a. Restrictor on Animal must be mounted between carburetor and manifold and must have gaskets. Absoutely no modifications to the plate will be tolerated!

4b. THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED: Governor assembly may be removed, fuel pump allowed, any air cleaner, adjustable carb jet, exhaust header (header must have a flared end or washer)

4. Engine: Restricted stock Animal or Animal Clone engine (must run a .279" RED Horstman restrictor plate).

4a. Restrictor must be mounted between carburetor and manifold and must have gaskets. Absoutely no modifications to the plate will be tolerated!

APPROVED ENGINES--OHV engines generally referred to as Clones with a maximum displacement of 200cc's. (current legal engines include the Lifan, Grey Hound, Harbor Freight blue & yellow, Jaingdong, Yamakoyo, Blue Max)

Important note: All parts must be Box Stock factory production parts unless otherwise specified in these rules. NO MACHINING OR ALTERATION OF PARTS IS ALLOWED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED. All parts will be subject to comparison to a known box stock part( when performing comparison check it is recommended to use a +/-.005" tolerance.) Engine will be teched as raced. There will also be a $200 claiming rule in place for this engine. Refusing to accept the claimer will result immediate disqualification of competitor along with forfeiture of 1/2 points earned to date in class and suspended for 2 races. Second time offense: you will be moved out of the class.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER VOLUME: 27.5 cubic centimeter minimum, with piston at TDC<using prescribed procedure.

CYLINDER HEAD REQUIREMENTS: must be OEM casting only. Porting and /or grinding are not permitted. Valve seals are two angles,45 degrees valve face and 30 degrees top relief. Stock head bolts only, must have four. Head gaskets maybe after market, must be of stock configuration. No copper or aluminum gaskets allowed. Any stock configuration gasket allowed on exhaust, no other sealer.

CARBURETOR REQUIREMENTS: Huayi or RUI*ING model carb only. Carb to intake sealer is gasket only no other sealer allowed. Choke must be as supplied from factory, but may be fixed to stay in open position. Choke bore .810 NO-GO. Venturi .615"NO-GO. Rear carb bore .751"NO-GO. Main fuel jet up to .042 NO-GO. Stock air cleaner assembly only.

If you are running a floor mounted tank, Pulse type fuel pumps are allowed. Fuel pump must be pulsed from either the crank case or the valve cover. You must install a flat metal plate in the original tank location for the purpose of mounting the throttle linkage and fuel pump.

VALVE TRAIN: Stock valve cover only with any stock configuration gasket, no sealer. Factory sealer rocker arms and push rods only. Stock valves only 45 degree angle on both valves, no modifications allowed. Only Box Stock valve springs . Max wire diameter on spring wire is .0698" with a maximum tension of 10.8lbs. at a height of .850".

IGNITION SYSTEM: Stock Box Sysytem only and must be unaltered. Kill switch and low oil sensor may be disabled and removed.

FLYWHEEL: Box Stock flywheel only with plastic fins. No alterations of any type allowed. Must also run stock flywheel key. Minimum bare wieght is 8.2lbs. Pull rope may be removed to make it accessible for use with a starter box.

PISTON AND RINGS: Must be unaltered Box Stock only. NO MACHINING OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED.

CONNECTING ROD: Stock Box rod only. NO MACHINING OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED. Stock rod bolts only.

CRANKSHAFT REQUIREMENTS: Stock Box crankshaft equired. MACHINING< POLISHING< ADDITION OF MATERIAL OR OTHER ALTERATION OF CRANKSHAFT IS PROHIBITED. Stock factory timing gear mandatory and must be installed in original location. Crankshaft journal diameter is 1.180"-1.175"min.

CAMSHAFT REQUIREMENTS: Stock as cast camshaft only. See profile listed below. THe following Box Stock Cam Profile is NOW recognized by the Box Stock Project.

block requirements: Block must remain stock as produced. Stub for governor may be removed and hole plugged. NO MACHINING OF BLOCK ALLOWED. Welding to the block shall be for rod damage repair only and may not constitute a functional modification.

CLAIMER RULE: You must finish the race in the Box Stock class to purchase the winners engine for $200 (minus the clutch/chain guard, throttle kit, header pipe/muffler, air filter adaptor,air filter, top plate & fuel pump.) ONly the top three are alloawed to be claimed. The protest fee is $50.00 and if you protest you must tear down also. Any illegal parts found will be confiscated and kept by the promoter.

Piston: stock Briggs pistons installed per. Manufacturers specs. (Arrow to mag. side, no machining)

Combustion chamber squish band areas around plug and bottom portion of chamber no less than .011! (Will be measured with a quality depth gauge and will have 0 tolerances.)

Valves: Intake OD min. & max. 1.055 - 1.065, Exhaust OD min. & max. 935 - .945 Minimum Valve Length = 3.250" (1 angle, no polishing, stock keeper grove location)

Camshafts: will be profiled out using a degree wheel with IKF profile. (Maximum cam lifts .257") (Gross valve lift will be teched @ valve spring retainer .255" maximum lift with no lash) ( Factory core camshafts only)

Rocker Arms: Stock replacement only. (No alterations of any kind, comparison to a known stock part will be used)

Valve Cover: Stock valve cover with working stock baffle. No tapping or welding.

Carburetor: Items that drop from the bottom of carburetor with bowl off are not tech items:
Examples: main jet, pilot jet, float, needle and seat, emulsion tube.

Intake manifold: The only alteration allowed is slotting of holes for proper alignment.

Restrictor plate: Plates may not be altered in any way. No beveling of holes, either side. Plates will be checked with no-go gauge. Plates must be installed with tab on the right side.

Fuel pump pulse line: (top oil fill on side cover is the only allowed place)

All engine parts, except listed allowed changeable parts can be teched to a known stock Briggs Animal part.

Notes: This is a stock engine class and if anything is altered or replaced other than what is listed in this engine spec sheet it does not fit the mandated requirements. All Animal engines will be teched per IKF go/no-go gauges.

Mini Sprints

A-Class Sprint

AGE REQUIREMENT

Drivers must be a minimum of 14 years old with no exceptions. Certified copy of birth certificate is required. At his sole discretion, the Race Track Promoter has the authority to permit an underage driver to participate in this class.

All A Class cars must run Nationally approved fuels. Spec upper end lube is Sunoco Alky Racing Fuel additive – 7.5 ounces or Klotz Uplon KL107.

4 cylinder 600cc powered cars; minimum car and driver weight is 750 lbs. Any material used for ballast must be firmly attached as a part of the car’s structure. No liquid or loose ballast such as water, fuel, oil, sandbags, rocks, logs, chains etc. allowed.

Any wheel size and tire combination may be used, but tires may not exceed 22½ inches in height. Right rear tire must be a minimum 50-durometer compound Hoosier or American Racer tire. Sipping and grooving are allowed. Air bleaders are allowed.

Cars must run a 10 square-foot fixed wing positioned no further back than the back of the roll cage. No cockpit adjustable wings allowed. No split or multi-staged nose or top wings allowed. Wing center section has to be one piece.

4 cylinder 600 cc stock engines. Stock engines as the motor was run on the motorcycle from the factory with the charging unit. No engine work (no ported heads, no lightened canks, no cam degreeing, no lightened pistons, no head cleanup). Stock pistons only. Any air cleaner will be allowed. Any exhaust will be allowed. Rods, pistons, cams, etc. must be stock parts as used on the motorcycle the motor came from. NO AFTERMARKET CARBS! IN THE A CLASS AND LIMITED SPRINTS you can run a 09 or older on stock injection with gas. You can also run methanol on stock carburetion on the 09's or older. Stock Power Commander is allowed on injection but no external adjustments will be allowed. Carbs may have metering rods, jets and springs changed to tune the fuel curve to match the car requirements. Allow only 1 OEM black box with manufacturer’s part number to be used on that make. Any type of box that has an external adjustment is considered illegal. Boxes allowed include STOCK black box style Honda “HRC” version or “Yamaha Racing” versions. No aftermarket CDI’s (ignition black boxes) allowed. Aftermarket timing advancers are illegal. Cam gears that are redrilled, slotted or altered are illegal. Internal charging systems components must remain in the motor. Any sprocket (520 or 530) will be allowed. NO KAWASAKI 636 and no current year production motors allowed.

Limited Sprint

Pump gasoline or methanol only. No additives allowed. Spec upper end lube is Sunoco Alky Racing Fuel additive – 7.5 ounces or Klotx Uplon KL107.

Any wheel size and tire combination may be used, but tires may not exceed 22½ inches in height. Air bleaders are allowed. Wheels must be held on with 4 or more standard lug nuts or knock-off hubs. Right rear tire must be a minimum 50-durometer compound tire. Sipping and grooving are allowed.
